Dr. Mary-Louise Biasotti Hooper

Mary-Louise Biasotti Hooper is a national and international professional artist and instructor, whose prize-winning oils and watercolors are inspired by her own photographs. Born in Greenwich Village, New York City, to an Italian immigrant family, the yearly art shows in Washington Square Park influenced her desire to paint. Her family, however, did not encourage art as a career and she entered the field of education. She eventually earned 5 university degrees-BA in education, MA in clinical counseling, Ed.D in pedagogy and 2 degrees in art. A retired college professor, she ran Hooperart, producing, marketing, selling and teaching.

Internationally, she is a Fulbright Scholar to Italy, is life-juried into the Biennale Internazionale Dell’Arte Contemporanea (Biennale International Contemporary Art Show) in Florence, Italy, has participated in international art projects, and has work is in private collections in Italy and shown in Germany.

Nationally, she has participated in numerous juried and non-juried individual and group shows in Michigan, California, Florida, Kansas, Washington D.C., Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and North Carolina.

She has been teaching art since 2003 at Penn State, Pennsylvania; York College of Pennsylvania; York Art Center, Pennsylania; Venice Art Center, Florida; Mooresville Art Center, NC; Waterworks Visual Art Center, NC; and Darling Studios, Landis NC.

She is a member of the Oil Painters of America, The Carolina Artists guild, Plein Air Carolina of Salisbury and the Waterworks Visual Art Center in Salisbury, NC.
